This works for all NT based versions of Windows
Before:
Right click your desktop and select new text document.
Open that document and paste the following info.

In notepad click <file> then <save as>. For file type in the save dialog box
select "all files" and for the filename type in License Key.reg or whatever you want. It doesn't matter as long as it has the .reg extension. Click save. Double click the file thats now on your desktop. It will ask you are you sure. Tell it yes.
After:
To see that it worked go to
http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/downloads/FAQ.aspx
and click on "Validate Windows" over on the right.
Now, when you begin updating you must make sure you do not accept the The Windows Genuine Advantage Notification...(aka. KB905474) If you update via browser or with the built in windows updater, you MUST NOT accept this update.
If you somehow accidently accept it, you can go into your add/remove programs, click "show updates" at the top and find the update labeled "KB905474" and remove it. That is the Windows Genuine Advantage Notification tool. After removing the validation tool I recommend re-applying the .reg file.
